DENTAL BRIDGES IN LONDON, ON

We provide dental bridges to London, ON. A dental bridge is an appliance that replaces missing teeth. It is important to note that bridges are non-removable.

There are different types of bridges. A “traditional bridge” usually has two crowns on it. The crowns will be put over two teeth like the anchoring teeth on either side of the missing tooth, and then they will attach pontics (artificial teeth) to them. This fills in the space where your tooth was missing or gone.

Dental bridges are strong and last for a long time. They may need to be replaced or re-cemented because of normal wear.

THE DENTAL BRIDGE PROCESS

Getting a bridge usually takes two or more visits.

  • Teeth are numbed so the dentist can prepare the teeth for a crown. A mold is made that will be sent to a dental lab to make the bridge. You will need to wear a temporary bridge until your next visit, when you will get your permanent one.
  • At the second visit, your permanent bridge will be checked and cemented to fit. Sometimes a dentist only temporarily cements a bridge so it fits better. They do this because they want to make sure you start getting used to the new bridge before it becomes permanent.

Your London dentist will give care instructions after the procedure. Brushing, flossing and visiting the dentist regularly can help keep your new permanent bridge healthy.
